The “all member” briefing about Cornwall Council’s takeover bid for the National Health Service has been rescheduled for 21st March, just seven days before the crucial cabinet meeting which is expected to rubber-stamp approval for an Accountable Care System.
A new item added to the agenda for that meeting says simply: “An update on the outcomes from the ACS Enquiry done by the Health and Adult Social Care Overview and Scrutiny Committee and the proposals going to Cabinet on 28 March.”
The briefing will be carried out by Helen Childs, chief operating officer for NHS Kernow, and Jonathan Price, the council’s service director for adult services. The agenda allows only two hours for their presentation, so if the recent Inquiry Panel hearings are any guide there will be practically no opportunity for serious questions.
The next NHS Kernow governing body meeting is on 6thMarch.
The council has still not explained why the original all-member briefing, scheduled for 1st March, was cancelled by leader Adam Paynter, apparently to the surprise of senior officials.
